Community Cleats FAQ

How did Community Cleats start?

Community Cleats started when six of us student-athletes realized that the extra cleats sitting in our closets could be the key to getting another kid out on the field. We know how expensive cleats can get, and we didn’t want a price tag to keep anyone from joining a team. To get the donated cleats ready for the field, we teamed up with Fresh Clean Kicks, who helps us deep-clean and refresh them as much as possible so they’re ready for game day. We’re just a group of students who love our community and sports, and we’re working together to make sure every kid gets a fair chance to play!

Meet the Six Founders Behind Community Cleats

Our journey started right here in our own backyard. As a group of six student-athletes, we know firsthand how fast we, and our teammates grow out of or wear through our cleats. It got us thinking: what if, instead of tossing them aside, those cleats could be cleaned up and given to local Atlanta kids who just want a chance to play? We believe every young athlete in the Atlanta area deserves a fair shot at getting on the field.

On February 1, 2026, the six of us held our very first meeting and sparked the idea for Community Cleats. To bring this vision to life, we partnered with Fresh Clean Kicks with a simple goal: spread the word and donate as many cleats as possible. We’ve been absolutely amazed by how fast this initiative has grown and how many other clubs have stepped up to help. This is just the beginning, and we hope to build this into a lasting community effort!
